What is True Technology Integration?

  • Students are actively engaged in using technology as a tool for learning rather than passively receiving information from the technology.
  • Students use technology to collaborate with others rather than working individually at all times.
  • Students use technology tools to solve real-world problems meaningful to them rather than working on artificial assignments.
  • Students use technology tools to set goals, plan activities, monitor progress, and evaluate results rather than simply completing assignments without reflection.

Three types of TECHNOLOGY TOOLS:

  1. Social Networking Tools = use of a dedicated website to communicate/collaborate with others
  2. Research Tools = use of a dedicated site to research and learn more about topics of choice
  3. Knowledge Creation Tools = use of a dedicated site to create and demonstrate understanding
